Radnor Boys Crew Club

Welcome from the Radnor Crew Hospitality Committee!

Radnor Crew Hospitality is a collective effort that supports the Radnor Boys AND Girls Crew Clubs (RBCC and RGCC) by providing nourishment for our athletes, coaching staff, and the families at Regattas.

Our primary purpose is to ensure that our rowers have adequate nutritious food and drinks to keep them at their best while out on the water. We also provide a shaded and dry place for the parents and families to gather, eat, chat and cheer on our athletes.
We do hospitality at selected events during the fall and spring seasons. If we do not have hospitality, then we will let you know by email, and you will be responsible for providing food and drinks for your own athlete. While all of that sounds great (and it is!), none of it is possible without YOU. Radnor Crew Hospitality is 100% parent volunteer driven.

We’ve all heard the old saying that “It takes a village”; well in this case it does… each week that we have hospitality, the parents need to make, buy and deliver the food we serve under the tent. In the morning, someone tows the “Chuckwagon” food trailer to the river and a group of parents set up the tents and supplies.
At the end of the day, a different group of parents tear down the tent and supplies and someone tows the Chuckwagon back to Radnor. There are people who manage the morning and the afternoon to make sure there is food for athletes at the right times and there are people who grill and prepare hot food.
The time that we get to see our athletes row by is short – we cheer and make a lot of noise while they pass – and the rest of the time, we chat while our athletes get the boats ready, warm up, race, then get the boats derigged for the ride home and talk to their coaches. In this way, a day at a regatta can be longer than a typical sports event. Thus, to have this available, we need parents to volunteer for all these other jobs to make it possible.
Each family needs to think about their commitment and how they will participate toward this great effort. Each family should consider signing up for 2-3 essential jobs (towing/ set up/ tear down/ am/pm coordinator) each year and bringing food items 4-5 times. Each week we have hospitality, the essential jobs sign up will go out first, and once we know that those are covered, we will put out the food sign ups to complete the day of requirements.

Your hospitality chair is always available to answer questions and address concerns. It may sound like a lot, but you’ll feel the sense of community as all of us band together & your heart will grow three sizes bigger watching the kids enjoying the food under the tent! Keep an eye out for the very informative emails/ sign up links that allow you to participate in these important ways! We look forward to seeing you down at the river!
